Twitcasting, the Japanese Periscope

For my individual artefact I’ve decided to mainly focus on Periscope in Asia and with Periscope and Meerkat being so widely talked about over the last 6 months, I discovered through my research that Japan were already 3 steps in front of us and had released a live broadcasting app in 2010 called ‘Twitcasting’. When I first read this I was astounded that I had never once heard about Twitcasting and was also surpirsed at the fact that Meerkat and Periscope were making many users believe that they were the first of all live broadcasting apps to be released.

The Tokyo-based startup, Moi Corporation, watched on as Meerkat and Periscope created a huge frenzy in the western tech media and were disappointed as they never once saw Twitcasting be publicised, especially as it global user community had just (roughly) broken 10 million around the months that Periscope and Meerkat were…
